This great-value safari to southern Tanzania's Selous Game Reserve spends 5 nights at one of the very best locations in the park – beside the beautiful permanent Rufiji River at Rufiji River Camp; there is plenty of time to enjoy safaris by open 4WD and on foot, as well as to make the most of the boat trips – there's even an option to spend one or two nights' fly-camping out in the bush.

Day 1

Starting from London Heathrow, your scheduled British Airways flies directly overnight to Dar es Salaam, beside the Swahili Coast of Tanzania.

Days 2-6 Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania

Landing early in Dar es Salaam, you are driven the short distance to the domestic terminal where you hop on a light aircraft. After a 45-minute flight to Selous Game Reserve, you land at Mtemere Airstrip and drive for a further 10 minutes to start your 5-night safari at ...

Rufiji River Camp (full board & activities)

Usually arriving in time for lunch, your safari includes activities 4x4 game drives, walking safaris and boat trips on the Rufiji River, and the lakes which are linked to it; all with very experienced safari guides.

Day 7

After a last morning on safari, you fly by small aircraft to Dar es Salaam, and then either overnight in the city of Dar prior to connecting with your early-morning British Airways flight to London, or continue onto one of our beach add-on trips to Zanzibar, or further afield.

Notes: • The prices shown are per person sharing; call us for single person supplements. • For a little more adventure, consider one or two nights of fly-camping within this trip. The cost of upgrading a night at Rufiji River Camp to a night fly-camping is £67 per person per night. Adding some time on the beach after this safari is very easy – we have lots of ideas! An obvious addition would be a beach trip to Zanzibar, although for a more remote island, with excellent diving and snorkelling, consider a trip to Mafia. At the other end of the scale, to finishing your holiday with just two or three days by the coast, consider our add-ons to the Ras Kutani area, which is only an hour's drive south of Dar, and perfect!

This itinerary includes:
• Economy flights as above, plus all UK and Tanzania international departure and passenger service taxes.
• All domestic transfers in Africa.
