Depart London Heathrow on your scheduled overnight flight with British Airways to Dar es Salaam. |
On arrival in Dar es Salaam, connect straight onto a light flight to Arusha where you will be met by your private superior guide and 4x4 safari vehicle with a pop-top roof. Drive for around 2 hours out into rural Tanzania, passing occasional Maasai tribesmen herding their cattle – before you reach the town of Karatu which is equidistant between Lake Manyara National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Here you will spend 3 nights at… |
| Bougainvillea Safari Lodge (full board & activities) |
| From here you will spend a full day in Lake Manyara National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Lake Manyara is a shallow alkaline lake which typically covers two thirds of the National Park. You will then spend a full day on safari in the Crater – a World Heritage Site and vast intact volcanic caldera. It is certainly one of the world's most spectacular natural wonders and has vast numbers of game grazing on its grassy plains. |
In the morning drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and up onto the plains of the northern Serengeti. This journey into the Serengeti National Park is a fascinating journey in itself – where red-swathed Maasai mix with passing herds of antelope. Eventually you arrive at your base for 4 nights of safari: |
| Lobo Wildlife Lodge (full board & activities) |
| Deep in the heart of the Serengeti's quieter northern area, the lodge stands high up on a Kopje overlooking the Lobo plains. There is great resident game here throughout the year, but from late-July to September and then November and December, the plains come alive with wildebeest. You have your own private 4WD and superior guide to explore the area at your own pace. |
|
Drive to the nearby Lobo Airstrip and catch a light flight to Arusha. From here, either continue on to one of our beach add-ons in Pemba, Zanzibar, or the peaceful Mafia Island, or transfer across to Kilimanjaro Airport by car. Here you will connect with your flight to Nairobi and then meet your British Airways overnight flight back to London. |
|
Arrive back in London early in the morning having thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful safari, with ample time to make the final leg of your journey home. |
