Honeyguide safari

On this extensive safari, discover northern Tanzania's famous wildlife reserves with your own private superior guide and 4WD: Experience the different wildlife and environments of Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, the amazing Ngorongoro Crater and the vast Serengeti National Park on this tour-de-force of the area's best game reserves.

Day 1
Depart London Heathrow on your scheduled overnight flight with British Airways to Dar es Salaam.

Days 2-3 Tarangire National Park, Tanzania
Tarangire Treetops On arrival in Dar es Salaam, transfer onto a light flight to Aruhsa – arriving at around midday. Here you will meet your own private superior guide and 4WD vehicle. Drive past the coffee plantations on Arusha's outskirts, and into the countryside. Pass occasional roadside markets and Maasai herding cattle, before heading into the wilder bush which surrounds Tarangire National Park. After around 2½ hours you arrive at your base for the next 2 nights
Tarangire Treetops (half board)
Treetops stands in a wild area that has plenty of game, but is outside the boundaries of Tarangire National Park. So during your two nights here, in addition to 4WD safaris inside the park, it's possible to go on night-drives and walking safaris in the vicinity of the lodge.

Days 4-5 Ngorongoro Crater & Conservation Area, Tanzania
Kirurumu Tented Lodge After an early breakfast, leave with a packed lunch for a day's safari. It's about an hour's drive to Lake Manyara National Park, where you spend the day exploring. The birdlife is especially rich in the park's evergreen forests, and there's lots of big game on its open floodplains. Then leave in the late afternoon for the short drive to –
Kirurumu Tented Lodge (full board & activities)
For your full day here - leave early for the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, because today you explore the phenomenal Crater floor – one of Africa's very best safari areas. You can expect exceptional sightings of game here: big herds zebra and wildebeest, huge-tusker elephants, often-visible black rhino plus lion and cheetah which are exceedingly relaxed near vehicles.

Days 6-7 Serengeti Migration Area, Tanzania
Ndutu Safari Lodge Leave at a leisurely pace after a filling and hearty breakfast and drive back up to the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area. Perhaps stop to admire the view from the rim one more time, before descending down onto the Serengeti's southern plains. Amble slowly through this area – looking out for relaxed lions snoozing on the kopjes. Perhaps stop somewhere cool for a packed lunch, before heading on to….
Ndutu Safari Lodge (full board & activities)
Ndutu is a great safari area throughout the year – but in the months of December through to March this area is in the thick of the migration and teaming with game. Explore with your own private superior guide - with the flexibility to head out on an all day drive, exploring deep into the Serengeti, or return to the lodge for lunch.

Days 8-10 Serengeti Migration Area, Tanzania
Serengeti Migration Camp Drive from Ndutu, up into the centre of the Serengeti as part of an all day drive. As you are with your own private vehicle and guide – stop at leisure to see the things that interest you. Pass Seronera, which can often be quite a busy area – but has great resident game throughout the year. Glance in the trees where relaxed leopards are often relaxing in the shady branches. Late afternoon, arrive at the comfortable….
Serengeti Migration Camp (full board & activities)
Migration Camp is in a quiet area in the north of the Serengeti – few people venture this far and as a result there is a real sense of wilderness here. The resident game is good in this area – though if you happen to visit during the months of June through to August, you will find yourself in the heart of the great migration.

Day 11 Serengeti Migration Area, Tanzania
Ndutu Safari Lodge In the morning, enjoy your last leisurely game drive on your way to a nearby airstrip and catch a light flight back to Arusha. From here, either continue on to one of our beach add-ons in Zanzibar, Pemba, Ras Kutani or the Mafia Archipelago, or drive on to Kilimanjaro and connect with your flight to Nairobi where you will meet your British Airways overnight flight back to London.
Ndutu Safari Lodge (full board & activities)

Day 12
Arrive at London Heathrow early in the morning after a great safari, with plenty of time to make onward connections home.
