In 2004 and 2005, two sister-resorts opened, each on its own island. The first on a populated island: Matemo Island Resort has 24 thatched chalets, all in a row immediately next to the beach. Each is highly-polished with quite modern décor, showing strong Arabian influences, and all have a bath, hot showers inside and out, a mini-bar, air-con and a satellite TV. Matemo has a restaurant and bar, a large pool, and a watersports centre offering diving and a wide range of other activities.
Towards the end of 2005, Medjumbe Island Resort opened with just 12 chalets on an island that's barely a kilometre in length and 500 metres wide. Ask us for the latest news.
