Marina (a Botswana citizen) and her husband opened their 'camp' in 2002 – although it feels more like a small guest house. Marina's lies about 8km north of Maun, about ten minutes drive from the airport, along the Shorobe Road, which leads to the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta. It's located in a residential area – with plenty of people around.
Marina's offers 8 thatched rondavels which are large, well-designed and attractively painted. The huts are placed in a semi circle; creating the impression of a small village, with the 'kgotla' which is traditionally the main meeting area in the centre
The food at Marina's is served either at the bar, the beer garden, around the pool or at individual tables a giant dining rondavel.
The large pool and restaurant both offer views over an old floodplain where hopefully in the near future zebras might be spotted.
Each rondavel - twin, double or family - has a shower, toilet and basin at the back. The beds are equipped with mosquito nets, and all rooms have fans.
Marina's makes a good stop for a night if you want an inexpensive place to stay with a local feel – and don't mind the noise and bustle of normal town in Botswana.
