Beside Nungwi village, Flame Tree Cottages has 11 white-washed rooms spread out in extensive gardens, beside the beach. It's a pleasant guest house owned by a Zanzibari-Scottish couple. Inside the rooms are immaculate with lovely fabrics, beautifully-finished wardrobes, and large verandas with cushioned easy chairs.
They have electricity, air conditioning, fans and en-suite bathrooms. Some share the useful resource of a kitchen, some have their own; for a small surcharge pans and crockery can be supplied.
As an inexpensive option, a short walk from Nungwi's busy centre, consider this seriously.
